Agency Description:

Riverside Behavioral Healthcare Center is a locked, skilled nursing/psychiatric facility serving the needs of up to 120 patients who are generally under provide or public conservatorship (deemed gravely disabled) and are a diagnosed with a pervasive thought and/or mood disorder. Patients have the opportunity to participate in a specialized treatment program provided by facility counselors. Agency Mission:

The goal of the RBHC Psychology Training Program is to train competent, ethical, independent psychologists to provide psychological treatment and assessment services in a locked psychiatric environment. Psychology trainees will be trained to recognize situational stressors, trauma, biochemical changes, and external factors that overwhelm and minimize effectiveness of coping mechanisms that lead to the need of psychiatric hospital care. Psychology trainees will also enhance learning of accurate diagnostic abilities. Diagnostic Treatment interventions focused on increasing mental health stability helps to help stabilize patients to successfully make progress and achieve a level of functioning in the least restrictive setting possible.

Primary supervisors, Dr. Navarro and Dr. Ealey, are supportive of effective individualized theoretical approaches by trainees. Both primary supervisors have utilized Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, Interpersonal, and Integrative Therapy Approaches within practice.
