Training and Education Offered by Internship

Please describe your objective in training Predoctoral interms. Please include a brief description of your training program and how it fits within the goals or mission of your agency:

Our objective in training pre-doctoral interns is to provide excellent supervision and education for developing therapists. Interns are trained in the use of specialized tools for working with forensic populations. Report writing is a particular expertise our interns and practicum students develop. Our training also includes treatment for substance abuse, criminal thinking and sex offending behavior. Our interns are typically paired with a seasoned clinician and, when ready, empowered to exercise their own leadership skills within group and individual treatment formats. Supervision is always accessible in that we currently have 2 licensed psychologists, 1 licensed MFT. Our staff Psychiatrist provides weekly consultation to our interns, but does not provide formal supervision.

If applicable, describe in detail how the internship training differs from practicum training:

Interns and trainees receive the same general trainings, but the work load of interns is slightly higher and additional supervision hours are made available to practicum students as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF PREDOCTORAL INTERNS:

Interns and practicum students co-facilitate group treatment, provide individual psychotherapy, intake assessments, and participate in staff meetings and trainings.

Training/Clinical Services Offered:
