The Justice Program is comprised of unique programs under the larger of the OC Health Care Agency (HCA), Children & Youth Behavioral Health. These programs provide behavioral health services to adolescents and children in specialized settings. The juvenile courts, OC Department of Education, and Social Services Agency to address and ameliorate significant behavioral health concerns and to support their healthy development. Juvenile Justice programs are also located within specialized settings, including OC Juvenile Hall, Orangewood Children & Family Center. Each program is comprised of multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, psychologists, MFTs/MSWs, mental health workers and specialists, and other interns and practicum students to ensure that comprehensive assessment, treatment, and linkage is provided.Agency Mission

The agencies primarily provide services to children, adolescents, their parents, other adults and their families. Clients are typically referred through the juvenile justice system or special education. Many clinics are operated cooperatively with the juvenile court, probation, social service agency, or drug and alcohol services. Clinics serve predominantly lower income, seriously or chronically mentally ill patents, although all diagnostic categories are represented. Training Orange County Health Care Agency offers dozens of clinical trainings each year through Behavioral Health Training Services. These trainings that are generally offered to County staff are made available to interns and practicum students in Specialized Services as well. Trainings offered have included: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing, Psychopharmacology, Intimate Partner Violence, Substance Abuse, Vicarious Trauma, Caring for Gender Non-conforming Youth, and various multicultural topics. Each Specialized Services site will provide additional training in evidence-based treatment modalities that may include: DBT, CBT, Seeking Safety, ASERT, Mindfulness, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and others. Cross-training opportunities are often available by staff of various disciplines from each of the Specialized Services tracks. Pre-doctoral interns would have a full case load of individual clients, run multiple group therapy sessions a week, be expected to complete multiple psychological assessments and complete timely Medi-cal paperwork. Interns will also participate in meetings related to their work site and clients.Prerequisites
Required/Desired Experience:
Coursework pertaining to psychological testing, work with abused/traumatized children.Brief Description of Requirements:
Doctorate student who has completed coursework in testing classes to conduct test batteries, sufficient education an adequate practicum and /or work history with abused and traumatized children.Application Procedures
