Training and Education Offered by Internship

Please describe your objective in training Predoctoral interms. Please include a brief description of your training program and how it fits within the goals or mission of your agency:

Training Orange County Health Care Agency offers dozens of clinical trainings each year through Behavioral Health Training Services. These trainings that are generally offered to County staff are made available to interns and practicum students in Specialized Services as well. Trainings offered have included: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing, Psychopharmacology, Intimate Partner Violence, Substance Abuse, Vicarious Trauma, Caring for Gender Non-conforming Youth, and various multicultural topics. Each Specialized Services site will provide additional training in evidence-based treatment modalities that may include: DBT, CBT, Seeking Safety, ASERT, Mindfulness, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and others. Cross-training opportunities are often available by staff of various disciplines from each of the Specialized Services tracks. Site visits of various Specialized Services facilities are available, including incarcerated settings

The CAPIC interns attend monthly additional didactic trainings, have higher caseloads, serve higher need clients, have the option to do additional psychological assessment batteries. The CAPIC interns also work closely with the multidisciplinary team to attend additional staffings and meetings

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF PREDOCTORAL INTERNS:

Pre-doctoral interns would have a full case load of individual clients, run multiple group therapy sessions a week, be expected to complete multiple psychological assessments and complete timely Medi-cal paperwork. Interns will also participate in meetings related to their work site and clients.
