Required Days/times interns must be present in agency:

Hume Center is no longer providing hybrid Doctoral Internships. All work must be completed in the clinic or community, and never from home or other remote settings. This is because we are a community mental health center and our services and clients require in person services. We do provide some telehealth services, but those are done from our clinics.

Percentage of hours/week providing face-to-face services: 50

Details and requirements of funding and benefits:

Doctoral Interns start off at $25.65/hour as a Mental Health Specialist until they have become registered with the California Board of Psychology as Registered Psychological Associates. Once registered, their pay is increased to $33.25/hour. Therefore, if the Doctoral Intern completes their onboarding paperwork and processes early enough to become registered by the first day of the Internship, their annual pay would be around $69,155. The minimum a Doctoral Intern can make would be $53,352. We encourage Doctoral Interns to work on their onboarding and board registration soon after their acceptance. Benefits include employer taxes, health insurance, 120 hours of PTO (Paid Time Off, accrued monthly), organizational approved holidays, 1 cultural holiday, 3 days of bereavement, and 5 days of jury duty. Please note you do not receive extra time off for your dissertation, nor should you work on your dissertation during work time. Our interns have found the three weeks of PTO sufficient to be able to take time off for sickness, vacation, and dissertation when they plan ahead.

Do all interns receive the same stipend?: No

If No, please describe the variation in stipend amounts and the reasons for them:

Interns receive one of two stipends. Either the $25.65/hour before they are registered or the $33.25/hour after they are registered. We do this to pass along some of the extra funding we receive for your services when you're registered versus when you are not. We have found that while many interns take registration with the board seriously, others delay the process. Therefore, we have set up this process to reward those who get their registrations done in a timely manner. It is our goal to start onboarding and the registration with the board three months early, which should be ample time for everyone to get registered and make the same higher salary.
