Applicants are narrowed down by experience and training and then invited for interviews by the forensic team at IVAT. Successful candidates will have training and experience in both Clinical (assessment and treatment) and Forensic Psychology.

Required/Desired Experience (e.g., specific populations, testing, etc):

Applicant is preferred to have experience in conducting psychotherapy and psychological assessment with both children and adults. In addition, it is desirable for the applicant to have experience in forensic work.

Letter of intent content (submitted to CAPIC as part of the complete student application to internship):

The Letter of Intent/cover letter should address why the applicant is interested in IVAT, what strengths the applicant would bring to the position and what the applicant would hope to receive from the training offered at IVAT. The applicant should also address his/her short and long-term training goals.

Please briefly describe the clinical and educational experience necessary to be considered for acceptance into your training program:

Applicant must have a Master’s degree in psychology or related field. Applicants must have experience in both psychotherapy and assessment, as well as an interest in forensic work and research.

Describe the interview process for your agency (individual or group interview, role playing required, case presentation required, etc):

Applicants are invited for a half-day interview, during which they will be interviewed by each of the licensed psychologists/supervisors. Applicants will also participate in a group interview with the forensic associates and current postdoctoral fellow. Applicants are required to interpret a MMPI-2 profile and answer questions related to domestic violence.

Describe what you are looking for in an applicant:

IVAT/FVSAI is looking for applicants who are eager to learn and expand their skills in forensic work. Successful applicants will have basic knowledge of domestic violence and will have experience interpreting psychological assessments. Applicants with prior experiences in the forensic field get special notice.
