Experience
Applicants must have completed practicum training, including prior experience doing psychotherapy with adults. Must have their Master's degree. No additional documents are required.

Required/Desired Experience (e.g., specific populations, testing, etc):

Preferred experience includes seriously mentally ill adult population as well as doing group psychotherapy. Required experience includes conducting psychotherapy with adults in prior work or practicum setting.

Letter of intent content (submitted to CAPIC as part of the complete student application to internship):

Must have a Master’s degree and have completed Practicum.

Please briefly describe the clinical and educational experience necessary to be considered for acceptance into your training program:

Good understanding of DSM, readiness to do and capable of conducting group and individual psychotherapy. Willingness to work cooperatively as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Prior clinical experience necessary, ie, have completed a Practicum doing some form of psychotherapy. Teachable attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to get along as a team member.

Individual interviews are conducted by Dr. Lisenbee within CAPIC timelines

Describe what you are looking for in an applicant:

Eagerness to learn, willingness to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, but able to also work independently to assess and attend to the needs of their caseload. Basic psychotherapy experience (i.e., in a prior practicum), good attitude, teachable. Those with a particular interest in patients with severe and persistent mental illness diagnoses as well as substance use disorder diagnoses.

Interns chosen will be hired as temporary employees, will have to pass Background Checks and a health clearance via our hospital's Human Resources department within 30 days of start date. These are done after the hospital and school have signed an affiliation agreement (contract). The predoctoral intern positions are paid $15.00 / hour, but offer no healthcare benefits.
