Must complete county volunteer application and pass county background check including physical. This process takes about one month to complete.

Required/Desired Experience (e.g., specific populations, testing, etc):

Experience isn't as important as attitude. Having said that experience in working with diverse and severe mental health populations will be helpful, as well experience with using an electronic health record.

Describe the interview process for your agency (individual or group interview, role playing required, case presentation required, etc):

We utilize a group panel interview process, that asks the same questions of all applicants allowing for the fairest possible selection of the highest qualified candidates. A second less formal interview may be used if the process yields more qualified candidates than spots open.

Describe what you are looking for in an applicant:

We are looking for someone who is open minded, not afraid of symptoms of severe mental illness, willing to engage people, is friendly and personable, respectful and thoughtful. Someone able to work within a team. Must have ability to balance clinical work with focus on documentation.

We are still in the processes of hiring a P/T senior psychologist to be the primary supervisor and will update when that hire is made, hopefully prior to Fall semester commencing.

At present trainees and interns have their own private office for use to have individuals sessions with clients. They may need to share space for administrative and note writing purposes as space demands. At present they are free to decorate their offices and have a plaque on the door with their name.
