Please specify your application procedure:

1. Prospective interns submit application materials. 2. Applications are reviewed and intern candidates are selected for the interview phase. 3. Interviews are conducted. 4. Candidates who are not being considered are notified. 5. Candidates who are selected are notified according to Uniform Notification Day requirements. 6. We adhere to all dates designated by CAPIC.

Required/Desired Experience (e.g., specific populations, testing, etc):

Previous experience working with adult populations is desirable. Because of the sensitivity involved in providing psychological services within a workplace setting, interns must have a clear and well-developed understanding of professional boundaries and ethics, particularly with regard to issues of confidentiality. Previous employee assistance (EAP) experience is desirable.

Letter of intent content (submitted to CAPIC as part of the complete student application to internship):

Letter of intent/cover letter should include student's goals for the upcoming internship training year, as well as information demonstrating how their prior experience makes them well-suited to train in this clinical setting (e.g., previous EAP experience, experience in a hospital/medical setting, or brief therapy/crisis intervention background).

Please briefly describe the clinical and educational experience necessary to be considered for acceptance into your training program:

Pre-doctoral interns must have had at least two previous clinical practicum experiences that have included training in diagnostic/intake interviewing and brief psychotherapy. Intern candidates must be at the formal pre-doctoral intern level, as designated by their academic program.

Describe the interview process for your agency (individual or group interview, role playing required, case presentation required, etc):

Intern applicants meet with the Director of Training and with other members of clinical training staff as a group. Case presentations are a part of the interview process.

Describe what you are looking for in an applicant:

The successful applicant will be bright, engaging, open-minded, and professional. They will have the capacity to assess people and situations accurately and quickly, and problem-solve efficiently and effectively under pressure. Desirable interns will be able to think independently and recognize when they need additional guidance and input. They will be able to work cooperatively with a team and be open to constructive feedback and opportunities for learning and growth. A good sense of humor is highly valued in this environment. ;-)
