Required/Desired Experience (e.g., specific populations, testing, etc):

We work from a modern socially conscious model while integrating psychodynamic theory with whatever works in the room to help your client! We're most interested in making a good match and finding students with a true desire to conduct long-term psychotherapy. We consider it a real bonus if you have had a practicum experience involving ongoing therapy, and if you've been in your own therapy yourself, but these are not required.

Letter of intent content (submitted to CAPIC as part of the complete student application to internship):

Please briefly describe the clinical and educational experience necessary to be considered for acceptance into your training program:

Since the focus of the internship is the conduct of psychotherapy, applicants should have educational and clinical experience as well as a strong interest in this area of practice.

Describe the interview process for your agency (individual or group interview, role playing required, case presentation required, etc):

We conduct a 30-45 min personal interview. You will likely meet with our Executive Director, Dr. Michele Gomes and Clinical Director, Dr. Claudia Feldman. The interview is unstructured and you do not need to prepare a case presentation, a role play, or thorough vignettes of your work. Our aim is to give all parties a sense of the match between the applicant and the program. We will ask questions to get to know you and invite you to do the same.

Describe what you are looking for in an applicant:

Curiosity, desire to learn, a strong interest in long-term deep psychotherapy, a socially conscious heart and mind, hard working, committed to helping. Ours is a robust training program so students who are ready to dive in do well here.

Other information not covered above:

NOTE ABOUT START DATE: We have two start dates for our internship - July 1st and October 1st. Applicants will be asked to rank order their preference, though it is not guaranteed until the week after matches are confirmed. We understand that you may not be able to start 7/1 if you are committed to a practicum site. Your start date preference has no influence on your chances of getting in.

Please briefly note any additional comments about the application process here:

We really enjoy this process and want to genuinely begin to get to know you. Of course interviews are always anxiety provoking, but we hope you will be able to be yourself and let your personality shine through in addition to your professional preparedness!
