Training and Education Offered by Internship

Please describe your objective in training Predoctoral interms. Please include a brief description of your training program and how it fits within the goals or mission of your agency:

Our goal is to provide compassionate and ethical care to members of the Sacramento region community. We want to provide care to a diversity of clientele and training and education allows us to reach more people and to train the next generation of psychologists. We also provide specialty care for hard to treat disorders and this allows those who wouldn't be able to access specialty care the ability to do so while training future specialists in the treatment of OCD and eating disorders. We offer care to Medi-cal clients in specialty areas that would otherwise not receive the specialized services. We also now have an assessment track where we provide comprehensive psychological assessments.

If applicable, describe in detail how the internship training differs from practicum training:

The internship training is a more intensive and specialized focus on ED's or OCD. It is robust training in groups and working with a high case load of difficult clients while receiving lots of support and training.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF PREDOCTORAL INTERNS:

For full-time students, they will carry a caseload of 22-25 including running 1-2 groups. Interns will do case presentations in group supervision, read for specialty areas, do crisis management, case management, and intake assessments. If there is opportunity for psychological assessment, this will also be part of the training. There is an opportunity for those with previous assessment experience to apply for our assessment track. In this track you will spend half of your time providing assessment services and half direct clinical care.
